If it’s a God-thing, the logs can be soggy.
This is a verse from the amazing Prophet Elijah embarrassing the prophets of Baal. They were cutting themselves and calling down fire from the absent god of Baal. Nothing happened.
He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.” 1 Kings 18:33
But Elijah doused his alter with water—three times—and called on God, and fire consumed the bull, wood, and water!
When it’s a God-thing, the circumstances can be tilted against you. Which reminds me of another passage:
“Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” Acts 5:38-39
If it’s not a God-thing, it will fizzle. But if it’s a God-thing, the logs can be soaking wet, the bank account empty, the rumors swirling, and the odds opposing… but the fire is coming!
