“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10

There are average performances, but there are no average people.

Everything you do is unique because you are unique. Your outcome might be average. Your grade might be average. Your salary might be average. You might land in an average position at the top of the bell curve, but there is nothing average about who you are.

Created in the image of God with his eternal thumbprint on your soul, there is no one like you, and there has never been.

While the score might fall short of the structure’s standard, the expression of who you are and how your activity reflects the Creator who designed you is nothing but unique.

Be you today. Wherever you are, whatever your contribution, and regardless of the scorecard, know this: God smiles. He smiles like a proud father as he puts the preschooler’s finger painting on the fridge. It’s all a mess. No preschooler painting is meant for the museum. Except that it’s yours. Your Heavenly Father looks on your work with pride.

So why don’t you?

By there way, here’s a bonus: The more confident you become in your God-given value and uniqueness, the higher the quality of your contribution. (This truth applies to the people in your home and workplace, too.)

“Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,

as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

You saw me before I was born.

Every day of my life was recorded in your book.

Every moment was laid out

before a single day had passed.”

-Psalm 139:14-16
