Communion has commonly been referred to as “The Last Supper” but I have three problems with that:

  1. I don’t use the word “supper.”
  2. Jesus said to keep doing this… so really, it was designed to be the first of many sacred dinners remembering the original.
  3. The ways a lot of Christians have done Communion makes it seem too religious and not relational, and perhaps not relevant to real life. But it is still very much relevant.

Over the next few days I’m going to re-examine that final meal that Jesus had with His disciples before he was taken and led to His death… and, eventually, resurrection. I hope you find all kinds of helpful ideas—even new practices.

For today, ask yourself, what do I think about Communion?

  • Don’t know
  • Don’t care
  • Judgment
  • Hope for all
  • Catholic routine
  • Insider club thing
  • Cool idea for a dinner party

Are you afraid to re-examine the concept? If so, why?

If you’re disinterested, keep your mind open to being pleasantly surprised.
