Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.” (John 1:48)

That’s what Jesus told Nate when Phil brought him. Nate had his questions and biases about Jesus. Then he met Jesus.

“Whoa. Okay, you’re the real deal. And you know the real me.”

Yeah, Jesus sees you. He saw you back there—back then. And he’ll see you all the way through.

This is the God who made you. What did you expect?

Are you still trying to cover yourself with leaves and pretending you can hide? Don’t be silly. This is the God who is with you now, was with you then, and he sees and knows it all.

Fall into the loving embrace of Grace. Not only does this God see and know it all, God loves you still. There’s no act done in hiding that God doesn’t see. And every time you reemerge, willing to look in his face, you can see his smile inviting you back home. “Come and see.”

Come and see this God of grace.

Come and see this God who knows everything about me.

Come and see what God looks like in skin.

Come and see the God who didn’t condemn me.

Come and see the source of confidence.

Come and see the your new beginning.
