After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” (Matthew 4:2-3)

Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness preparing for the next season of miracles and teaching. While there, the tempter shows his hand, coming at Jesus the same way he comes as you and me. This is Temptation B.

Temptation A: Distrust God.
Temptation B: Doubt yourself.

“If you are the Son of God…”

If you are a child of God…
If you are special…
If you’re worthy of…
If you are cared for…
If there is a plan for your life…
If you have unique contribution to make…

The tempter is not creative. He’s got the same bag of tricks. He uses them over and over because they work. But they didn’t work on Jesus, and they don’t need to work on you.

If you ever hear a voice or sense a spirit that questions your identity and tries to hold you back… ignore that voice. It’s a very old trap. Step over it. Be you. Keep walking.
