My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. Psalm 119:50
The promise for tomorrow helps us persevere through pain today. Whatever you’re going through, it will end. One way or another, it will end. Even if its end coincides with the conclusion of your human experiment, it will end. And this life is not the end.
We can know and have confidence that this human struggle is not the final chapter of the story. As C.S. Lewis suggests in the Narnia series, this is just the first chapter; and the book goes on and on.
Find something that’s true—a promise that you can hold on to—and adapt a longer-term perspective. This, too shall pass. And God has a way of turning troubles into triumphs. One day, that will be true for you, too.
