In his hit book, The Circle Maker, my friend Mark Batterson talks about the ancient process of drawing circles around your dreams, goals, and fears. If you were to look in my journal, you’d find a number of pages where I’ve written out a dream or goal or question that I have for God about the future or some specific decision. I circle it. Then I keep going back to that page and circling it again and again… day after day… until I get clarity or the issue resolves.

There’s something powerful about circling your hopes, dreams, and the promises of God. The process refines our thinking and deepens our faith.

On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. (Joshua 6:15)

Circle your prayers. Not only is the physical act helpful in focusing your desires, dreams, and intentions, but now you’ll have an account of God’s faithfulness to look back on for years to come.
