Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. (Proverbs 15:22)

We were made to live in community. We need one another—for encouragement and also for insight.

A mentor of mine has called it “the wisdom of the room.” Get some people and test your ideas. Your perspective is unique and critical to the outcome, but so are the perspectives of others. With a variety of worldviews, past experiences, and giftedness, you’re bound to see the issue from new angles… which will often lead to a stronger decision.

Of course, consider that even our advisors have a default “bias” based on their own life experience. Nevertheless, as a rule, advisers should play a part in every big decision we make.
