You must embrace the ending before you can enjoy the new beginning.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19

My dad recently cleaned out his office. He’s retiring from the church he’s led for 15 years. Seeing the empty bookshelves and naked walls reminded me of this larger spiritual reality. We can’t run free into the new season if we’re still holding onto the past season.

Is there an end you need to embrace? Is there something it’s time to let go of?

It’s difficult to move on from the past when it’s the place with which you’re familiar. It felt safe. You were known, valued. You can count the cost of what you’re losing when you can’t yet quantify what you will gain. It’s called faith… and new beginnings.

Embrace the end. A better future is in front of you.
