Forgive, create a boundary, and forgive some more.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven.” – Matthew 18:21-22

Boundaries and forgiveness are a prickly tension. We can’t let people walk all over us. Neither can we stop forgiving them.

Boundary: “This is how I will and won’t relate to this person, because I believe it’s best for them and me.”

Forgiveness: “I’ll still extend massive amounts of grace and forgiveness—because I’ve been forgiven much, and because bitterness poisons the soul.”
