Recently, I was climbing a sandhill with my boys. Henry got stuck on a large rock about 30 feet up the sandhill. He froze. He decided he couldn’t get himself out of the situation he’d gotten himself into and started crying.

Fear is the glue that keeps us stuck.

Henry desperately called for me to climb over to him and help him get unstuck. But, in my judgement, this wasn’t a situation to help him out of, but to help him through.

It took a few minutes, but Henry slowly and cautiously scooted his legs to the side and shimmied off the rock. He couldn’t help but smile when he was safe and free to keep climbing.

That reminds me of my own life. Sometimes I want to be saved from something, but God is showing me a way to shimmy myself away and onto to new heights.

Maybe you can relate.
