Transitions are the best time for new standards, new systems, and new normals.

“It starts with turning your should into musts.” —Tony Robbins

My family is in the process of moving into a new home. Hilary and I took the opportunity to discuss designing “new normals” to make the most of this transition. I did this same exercise years ago when my staff moved into a new office space. Here are some questions I ask myself that might resonate with you when you find yourself in a transition:

1. What is working well?
2. What’s not working?
3. What do I/we no longer want to tolerate?
4. How could we make this a better experience for everyone?
5. How might we create new normals that promote growth, connection, and joy?

If at all possible, think it through before the move into the new space or season. When things are already disrupted, it’s simplest to introduce change and new normals.
