Not my will, but the divine plan is my priority.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

There are a lot of things I thought I wanted, even prayed for, but I’m glad didn’t come to fruition. That girl I thought I wanted to be with in college. That job I thought made sense. That book deal I expected to ink.

Each looked good and had something about the opportunity that made some sense, but there was a bigger and better plan.

Let’s not tell that to someone who’s currently depressed and feeling rejected. But tell it to ourselves. And invite God to continue to teach us to do His will.

His will, but the way, will always fall under the banner of loving others the way Jesus did. One could ask, “What does Love require of me in this moment, this decision?”
