My sons love the new Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse. It concludes making the point that we’re all Spiderman. Or, we’re all superheroes.

  • You don’t need to shoot webs to save days.
  • You don’t need to fly to be there when it matters.
  • You don’t need X-ray vision to see someone in pain.
  • You don’t super-strength to carry someone else’s burden.

Animated characters have been pointing to a spiritual truth for all these years. There’s something in our DNA that moves us toward other people in need. Heroes help. It’s what we do.

And like every character has their special ability, so do you. You have skills, abilities, and experiences that make you the answer to someone else’s struggle. The questions are, do you see the need, and will you show up?

You’re the hero that will help someone overcome the evil villain in their life.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?… No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:31, 37
