I’m looking at a restaurant that is painfully empty. There are four people and well over 40 empty seats. Sadly, it’s always this way—every time I walk past this restaurant in the open-concept food court. I gave them a try when they first opened. They were fine—not great, not bad—not memorable. I haven’t gone back.

The questions that I have every time I see the sad store are: How much longer will they last? How much money are they losing? Why isn’t working?

These are like other questions we all face in a variety of situations in our lives.

Pull the plug or power through? Pivot or persevere? Passion project or paying the bills?

Ultimately, the big question is: WHAT TIME IS IT?

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:a time to be born and a time to die,a time to plant and a time to uproot,a time to kill and a time to heal,a time to tear down and a time to build…Ecclesiastes 3:1-3

Do you know the season you’re in? Are you paying attention to what God is doing… how you’re being led… the doors closing and opening…?

Over the next few days, I want to offer some ideas about how I process and make the little and big decisions in my life. For today, just take a moment and ask yourself, what time is it? Or, what do I know about the season I’m in?
