We lie because we’re embarrassed.
We lie because we’re arrogant.
We lie because we’re afraid.
We lie because we’re sad.
We lie because we already lied and we don’t think we can go backwards.
We lie to protect ourselves…or the thing we think needs our protection. But the truth is, if the thing needs us to lie to protect it, it’s not what we thought it was. And, if we need to lie to protect ourselves, we’re weak, not strong. The way to build strength is to tell the truth. It’s painful, embarrassing, and sometimes costly, but it makes you stronger.
After all, why are we lying in the first place?
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do … God did by sending his own Son.” Romans 8:1-3
It’s done. You’re free and forgiven. Anyone who accuses you is still playing a legal game that’s been dead for 2,000 years. Just smile and keep walking.
Yes, forgiven, but maybe you also need to make better life choices. Good tip: It starts with simply telling the truth.
