“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”  -Genesis 1:1,3

The following verses continue in that theme:

And God said…

And God said…

And God said…

…And there was…

God spoke and everything came into being. He said it and it happened. There was nothing, God said stuff, and then there was something.

Which brings us to the next obvious question: If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? I ask that because there was no one to hear God speak but Him. I wonder if He was really speaking to us.

I think God wants you and me to understand that our words have power.

A few verses later, God creates humans, “in His own image.” What does that mean? Probably something similar to what it means to have human children born in our own image. They are uniquely them, AND, they have part of us in them. Not that we’re gods, but have part of God in us. You and I reflect the image of God in a unique way.

Also, in each of us, God has passed on His creative gene. He’s allowed us to co-create with Him, and the earth is the canvas.

So we have children, we start businesses, we make art, we produce, we build, we design, we coach, we cultivate, we manage… we steward all creation alongside its Creator.

Which brings us back to words. Our words matter. You have the creative gene, and your words can create worlds. Use your words carefully.

More on this tomorrow. But for today, I want you to be aware of something new I’m doing.

I’m committed to speaking things into being—for myself and for others. I’ve dedicated my life to using my words to be an encouragement to other people. I try and do that through this Chewables blog. I’m also doing it through a podcast.

The Spirit Farm Podcast launched this weekend! I’m very excited about this because I get to continue to speak to people I care about—and many more I don’t yet know—through this mass communication medium and through the intimate earbuds.

Would you do me two favors? It would mean a lot to me.

iTunes pays attention to how many downloads and reviews a podcast gets in the first few weeks. Popular podcast are prioritized by the iTunes algorithm and given priority and visibility. So… would you be willing to:

• Subscribe to the Spirit Farm Podcast

• Review it and share it with your friends on social media

Let’s be about God’s ongoing creative work today and let our words create new worlds of hope and possibility.
