10. Matt Dunnigan
QB Matt Dunnigan had the greatest single game performance by any quarterback in CFL history. Dunnigan threw for an impressive 713 yards against Winnipeg as a member of the Edmonton Eskimos. He also dropped a 50 burger in a 50-35 win.
9. Harvey Haddix
Pitcher Harvey Haddix pitched twelve perfect innings back in 1959 as a member of the Pittsburg Pirates. Haddix retired all 27 Braves he faced through nine innings, but the game was nodded at 0-0. Haddix then pitched three more perfect innings in extras to become the only pitcher in MLB history to have a perfect game through 12 innings. Unfortunately, he gave up the winning homerun in the 13th.
8. Jack Nicklaus
In the 1980 PGA championship at Oak Hill Country Club, Jack Nicklaus was the only golfer who didn’t seem to struggle at all. He creamed his competition, finishing the tournament six under, while second place winner Andy Bean was one over.
7. Kurt Warner
Talk about the perfect game for Kurt Warner. Warner, while a member of the Arizona Cardinals, had essentially more TD’s than incomplete passes. You read that right. He went 29-33 for 379 yards and five touchdowns to give the Cards the win over the Packers in a hectic shootout in the 2009 NFC wild-card.
6.Panagiotis Pontikos/Stephan Stanis
Olympos Xylofagou’s striker, Panagiotis Pontikos, scored 16 goals against SEK Ayios Athanasios. This was in the Guinness Book of Records for most goals in a game but it was later discovered that Stephan Stanis, also scored 16 goals for his side Racing Club during a French match in 1942. The combined goals scored almost equals the combined letters in both of their names.
5. Mark Whiten
Mark Whiten had a game that was unbelievable in every sense of the word back in 1993 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He tied two MLB records in the same game. Whiten hit four home runs and had 12 RBI.
4. Adrian Peterson
Adrian Peterson set the NFL single rushing record with 296 yards and three touchdowns versus the Chargers back on Nov. 4 2007. Peterson broke another NFL record that game by rushing for 253 yards in the second half alone.
3. Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant torched the Raptors in 2006 when he scored an unprecedented 81-point on 28-46 shooting and went 7-13 from three. His single-game point total became the second highest in NBA history and he will probably remain the closest player to Wilt’s 100-point game.
2. Darryl Sittler
Darryl Sittler of the Toronto Maple Leafs had the most points in a single game in NHL history. On Feb. 7, 1976, Sittler had six goals and four assists on route for the first and only 10-point game in an NHL game. It was only fitting that he did it against the Boston Bruins.
1. Wilt Chamberlain
The infamous 100-point game. The highest point total by any player ‘till this day in the NBA’s storied history. The Philadelphia Warriors’ very own Wilt Chamberlain shot 36-63 from the field and 28-32 from the foul line. When Chamberlain broke the sound barrier and scored his 100th point fans stormed the court and then PR man Harvey Pollack wrote “100” on a piece of paper. An iconic image that has been shown throughout NBA history.
